Assessment Packages

 

SailAway offers the following educational assessment packages in addition to à la carte assessment choices. All assessments are administered by a licensed school psychologist, and interpreted by an educational psychologist.

 

Full Psycho-Educational Profile

The Full SailAway Assessment Battery delivers the most accurate picture of a student’s developmental and academic achievement. Using nationally-normed and highly reliable assessment instruments, the Full Assessment Battery:

  • Identifies learning strengths and weaknesses stemming from cognition and development;
  • Suggests root cause(s) of attention deficit and processing disorders that compromise academic achievement;
  • Informs whether memory and/or neurological considerations impact the student’s ability to learn.
  • Offers detailed, in-depth academic achievement evaluations
  • Includes the following tests (Description of individual tests below):
    • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-5 (WISC-V)
    • Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement-3 (KTEA-III)
    • Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-5 (PPVT-V)
    • Woodcock Reading Mastery Test-3 (WRMT-III)
    • Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA)
    • Test of Memory and Learning 2 (TOMAL-II)

Includes a written report and up to three (3) hours of detailed explanation of the test results and Plan-of-Action suggestions (Additional fees apply for consultations longer than three hours.)

Basic Cognitive/Academic Profile

The Basic SailAway Assessment Battery provides a thorough look at students who do not have significant learning struggles. 

  • Provides an accurate picture of academic performance with specific details for areas of academic strengths and weaknesses and suggests learning objectives and activities
  • Offers detailed, in-depth academic achievement evaluations
  • Measures vocabulary acquisition and reading mastery
  • Identifies basic cognitive and developmental strengths and weaknesses
  • Includes the following tests (Description of individual tests below):
    • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-IV (WISC-IV)
    • Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement III (KTEA-III)
    • Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-4 (PPVT-IV)
    • Woodcock Reading Mastery Test (WRMT)

Includes a written report and up to 90 minutes of detailed explanation of the test results and Plan-of-Action suggestions (Additional fees apply for consultations longer than 90 minutes.)

May be upgraded to the Full Battery at the parent’s discretion, if results of the Basic Battery are inconclusive.

The Neuro-Cognitive Profile

The Neuro-Cognitive Profile delivers the most accurate picture of a student’s cognitive achievement. Using nationally-normed and highly reliable assessment instruments, administered by a licensed school psychologist, the Neuro-Cognitive Profile:

  • Identifies learning strengths and weaknesses stemming from cognition and development;
  • Suggests root cause(s) of attention deficit and processing disorders that compromise academic achievement;
  • Informs whether memory and/or neurological considerations impact the student’s ability to learn.

The Neuro-Cognitive Profile includes the following tests:

  • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-IV (WISC-IV)
  • Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-4 (PPVT-IV)
  • Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA)
  • Test of Memory and Learning 2 (TOMAL-2)

The Neuro-Cognitive Profile includes a written report and up to two (2) hours of detailed explanation of the test results with Plan-of-Action suggestions. Additional fees may apply for consultations longer than two hours.

Brief Profile

The Brief SailAway Profile offers a basic understanding of a student’s cognitive development and academic achievement.

  • Screens for potential giftedness and disabilities
  • Gives an accurate snapshot of academic performance.
  • Is a cost-effective solution for required annual testing with the additional benefit of information about development.
  • Includes the following tests:
    • Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test (K-BIT)
    • Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement- Brief

Includes a written report and up to 30 minutes of explanation of test results. (Additional fees apply for consultations longer than 30 minutes.)

Individual Assessments

 

Academic Assessment Only  – $395.00

The Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement III provides an accurate picture of academic performance and is administered as a stand-alone test. It includes a detailed description of specific academic strengths and weaknesses with suggested Objectives and Actions for them. It includes a written report and up to 30 minutes explanation of test results.         

 

Cognitive Assessment Only – $595.00

Administration of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale (IV) (see description below). It includes a written report and up to 30 minutes explanation of test results.

 

Attention Assessment Only – $595.00

Administration of the Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA) (see description below). It includes a written report and up to 45 minutes explanation of test results.

 

Memory Assessment Only – $695.00

Administration of the Test of Memory and Learning (TOMAL) (see description below). It includes a written report and up to 30 minutes explanation of test results.

The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition  (WISC-V)

The WISC-IV is an individually administered assessment designed to determine varying abilities related to the child’s intelligence, cognitive abilities, memory and processing speed.  The WISC reveals where problems are academically and behaviorally and documents those elements very clearly. Coupled with other diagnostic and academic achievement tests, the WISC is a key component in the creation of an educational and behavioral action plan for individual students.

The Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement – Third Edition (KTEA-III)

KTEA-III is an individually administered assessment that provides academic information in Reading, Mathematics, Writing, Spelling and Oral Language. Comprehensive achievement scores are key in determining the current level of academic functioning a child possesses and provides a strategic role in finding gaps in current abilities.

Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test – 5 (PPVT-5)

The PPVT–4 measures understanding of spoken, standard American-English words and assesses vocabulary acquisition. This test covers a broad range of receptive vocabulary levels, from preschool through adult. As a non-verbal evaluation, the PPVT-4 is invaluable in assessing the cognitive potential of students with limited or no oral language.

Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA)

The T.O.V.A. is an objective, neuropsychological test that measures sustained and selective attention. The T.O.V.A. is the most widely used objective measure of attention in the world, and is considered the “Gold Standard” among measures of its type.

Test of Memory and Learning – 2 (TOMAL-2)

The TOMAL-2 is the most comprehensive memory assessment currently available in a standardized battery. Index scores allow the educator a predictive window into how memory affects the student’s overall ability to learn and to pay attention and concentrate. It also reveals valuable information about a student’s ability in delayed verbal recall, sequential memory, free recall, and associated recall, areas that impact the student’s ability to achieve academically.

Woodcock Reading Mastery Test – Revised 3rd edition – Normative Update (WRMT-R/NU)

WRMT-R/NU is an individually administered assessment that examines the reading skills of children and adults. Based on scientific research and tested with years of actual classroom use, the WRMT-R/NU identifies children’s specific strengths and weaknesses in reading skills.

KTEA-II Brief

The KTEA-II Brief Form is used as a quick measure of achievement and is recommended for yearly testing. The assessment features an expanded age range from 4 years, 6 months to 90 years and yields norm-referenced subtest scores and a battery composite.

Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test

The Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test (K-BIT) measures both verbal and nonverbal intellectual ability quickly. It can identify high-risk children who require a more comprehensive evaluation. It is also is a good screen to identify students who may benefit from enrichment or gifted programs.
